She came out of surgery about 7pm. The surgery went well. The tumor was very attached to the colon. So it took about 2 hours just to get it off the colon. He described it like pulling wet paper towel off of concrete.
It came out in one piece without rupturing. He said it is a wilms tumor. Now we wait for the pathology report to tell us if it had spread, what type and stage. That will determine our treatment.
There was a spot in the tumor. Very small. That was raw. He said this could be a place where the tumor leaked into body. We won't know until pathology looks at it.
In a step down unit tonight because she was in surgery for so long. Then back in our room tomorrow.
