Beads of Courage

We finally started Evelyn's Beads of Courage necklace. We had several events and weeks to catch up on. And, of course, I wanted them in the correct order of events. Each color bead represents a different act of Evelyn's story of courage: Hospital stays, surgery, port placement, scans, ER visits, blood draws, chemo, clinic visits, special acts of courage. We put them on the string and talked about what each one meant. She is really proud of the story behind why she earned each bead.

We will have many more beads to add as we continue Evelyn's story of conquering these mean old slugs. With this necklace, we have a positive, physical representation of all she has been through and faced with such strength and perserverance. A story she can share with her kids one day (many many many many years from now. many years.).
