Finger Prick

We went to the clinic at Brenner's today for blood work only. You would think that would be a relatively easy thing after everything else we've been going through. It wasn't. E is definitely over this whole thing. Even seeing Nurse Karen wasn't a good enough reason to go.

She was so upset getting ready and out the door this morning. Then the movie player in the car wouldn't work. She was off and on crying in the car on the way there. She finally cheered up a little. Then, stuck in traffic, in the rain. Seriously...

Once we got there, I had to carry her screaming from the lobby to the lab for the finger prick. Then we waited. Then we went in the lab. Screaming. No paperwork in the system. Waited again. Then back into the lab. Screaming. Crying. Another nurse had to come hold her down. All for a little finger prick. Poor baby. She was crying. I was crying. We were quite a sight. Who knew a finger prick would be worse than the chemo?

Instead of getting a surprise toy when we got home, this time, we went to Toys R Us. She got to walk around, look at all the toys and pick out her toy herself - Ariel and Eric magnetic dress up dolls. That cheered her up quite a bit. We go back on 10/12 for chemo. Maybe knowing there won't be a finger prick involved will make it a little easier!
